Reef Encounter is a 35 metre luxury catamaran designed for the utmost stability & comfort at sea. The vessel is air-conditioned throughout & features spacious decks as well as roomy dining & recreation areas to dine and relax in. Dive and snorkel packages all include chef prepared gourmet meals.
The large easy access water platform allows hassle free scuba diving and snorkelling. The vessel also features staterooms which have double or twin beds, all with private bathrooms.
All of these features, combined with friendly and experienced dive crew makes Reef Encounter the ultimate scuba diving & snorkelling adventure vessel. There is even an onboard SPA!
Depending on how long you stay aboard Reef Encounter, your time will be spent scuba diving or snorkelling at the many different reefs and locations on the Great Barrier Reef that the vessel travels to and from.
Boarding is easy, transfers are also available from Cairns City, Palm Cove and Cairns Northern Beaches, Port Douglas; there are even deluxe Helicopter transfers from the mainland to the vessel.

Open Water Dive Course
SSI Open Water Dive Certification. Home School Scuba is ideal for previously experienced divers. Ideally candidates should have experienced the pleasures of breathing underwater, so that they feel completely comfortable in the water. The benefits of such a course include: The program offers more guided dives than both the open water & advanced courses combined! Up to 8 pleasure dives are combined with 6 skills sessions over a 3 day / 2 night period onboard Reef Encounter. This ensures all candidates have 8 recreational dives on the Great Barrier Reef. There are no pools and no classrooms. Do away with the fundamentals of your traditional 5 day course and be certified in just 3 days. Learn by experience under the watchful eye of your instructor with only 3 other students *Group Maximum is 4 Students to 1 Instructor. Theses courses are personalised, safe and a lot of fun, with more attention to detail!
No School Scuba
This option involves, No testing, No license, just fun diving. Instructor guided dives are often called Introductory Dives or Resort Dives.
Reef Encounter Level One Top Deck Club
This option, the Top Deck Club, Includes Level One accommodation in a deluxe stateroom, champagne on arrival, tropical breakfast served to your room daily, exclusive use of Top Deck Club private sun deck, complimentary sunset cocktail with the Captain, all meals & snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. A great way for those who like a little luxury to see the Great Barrier Reef in style!
Boat Dives
Dive on the wild side, for a small charge, our crew will be happy to offer you even more dive locations & whisk you away in our dive tender vessel to spectacular reef locations not frequented by visitors.
Helicopter Transfers
Reef Encounter is the only vessel on the Great Barrier Reef with an onboard helipad. Helicopter transfers are offered from $355.00 per person one way to or from Reef Encounter from $710.00 per person return, landing directly onboard the vessel’s helipad. Helicopter transfers are a wonderful way to see the Great Barrier Reef and it really is arriving in style.

The Top Deck Club (Deluxe Option)
Upon arrival guests are greeted by crew and invited to share delicious local fruit platters and a glass of Australian champagne. The Top Deck Club is designed to meet the expectations of the most discerning of guests, offering an unhurried, relaxed ambience. The modern staterooms have a private ensuite and are spacious and air-conditioned with ample space for clothes and luggage.
Luxurious touches such as crisp Australian bed linen, silk doonas, cotton sheets and feather down pillows adorn our oversized double beds. Soft fluffy robes, plush bath sheets and Australian beauty products are replenished daily.
If ever there is perfect time to relax, it is on Reef Encounter. The magic begins each day when the reef awakens. Perhaps an early morning dive, a revitalising swim or relaxing spa. Breakfast is served to your suite. All personal options are available.
The Reef has a personality of its own and a team of resident experts, the vessel’s crew, are on hand to provide whatever assistance is required in and out of the water. Personal dive/snorkel guides will assist with fitting of fins and dive/snorkel gear, providing guests with an aquatic adventure remembered for a lifetime.
When the day draws to a close, majestic sunsets fill the sky with a stunning golden glaze allowing a breath taking backdrop for the end of the day; the vessel’s Captain will join the Top Deck Club guests for sunset cocktails on one of the vessel’s private decks. A romantic evening under the stars in paradise awaits you.
All gourmet meals are freshly prepared onboard allowing our chef to provide interesting and unique culinary delights with local Australian and exotic ingredients accompanied by a fine selection of Australian wines and beers.
