The Course

If you are running short on time or prefer a land based learn to dive options then you can consider the shorter 4 day learn to dive course as a good option. The first two days are spent learning the theory and underwater skills of diving. At the end of day 2 you are invited to attend Reef Teach marine biology presentation. Days 3 and 4 are spent on a fast and modern day boat completing the 4 training dives toward open water certification.

The day boat is TUSA and they have up to 21 possible dive sites they can visit. The water barely drops below 22° Celsius and between December to February is up around 30° Celsius. Visibility is usually between 10 and 30 metres.

The dive training centre is located in the city of Cairns and features all the modern facilities need to learn to dive. This diver training center also boasts Cairn’s deepest dive pool. At a depth of 4.5 metres in the middle, dive students can get and excellent idea of what pressure feels like under water.

Please note there are regulations about flying or going to altitude after diving.

We recommend waiting a minimum 24 hours whenever possible. These are guidelines only; there is no guarantee that these recommendations will prevent decompression sickness. Currently there are no guidelines regarding diving after flying.

Altitude is 300m/1000ft above sea level.
This includes going to the Atherton Tablelands, so be careful when you are booking tours to follow your dive course/trip.
